Newsletter Subscription

Newsletter CalloutThis image appears on the CHAHEC home page.  The standard practice is to keep the registration for email newsletters (entering an email into a box) separate from account creation (which is a larger commitment).

However, because CHAHEC wanted to get more users to create accounts (so that they can readily register for events, pay for services, and generate statistics for funders), they linked the email distribution of newsletters to the creation of accounts.

It has been a busy year for CHAHEC, and the development of its newsletter was a lower priority than other forms of outreach (video and web). The capacity for creating and distributing custom newsletters has not been implemented yet.  However, another Drupal site that relies heavily on custom newsletters (with content drawn both from the local website and from other news sources) is http://nyinc.com and worth a visit. Screenshots are below - home page on right, email newsletter on left.

Ultimately, AHECS need to prioritize their outreach methods.  If writers are available, newsletters are easy; if videographers are available, webcasts are more engaging and communicative of professional development service quality.
